Although the weather is cold outside plenty is still going on around the railway. I thought that you may be a bit overfed with coach stories so here are some other items going on along the line.
The station at Llynclys has had a spruce up to get ready for the operating season. The team have been putting to good use the contents of the paint store, bringing colour to various items around the site. The speed restriction signs have had some attention and should now stand out against the snow sweeping across the country,
The steps to the platform have had the railings painted and white lines reapplied on the steps and platform edges.
Even the doors are having some attention and Chief Inspector Lenny the cat approves of the work done
Anyone who would like to get involved would be warmly welcomed and don't worry there is plenty of tea also there. Thanks to the CHR Facebook page for the pictures
For anybody who reads the local papers the CHR is again taking part in Shropshire Star's Cash for Your Community 2018 campaign. All you need to do is collect the tokens as they appear in the paper and drop them off at Oswestry station in an envelope marked for Cambrian Heritage Railways, or pop in and see what is going on.
More details are on the Facebook page

Whilst we wait for better weather it is maybe an idea to take a short trip along memory lane with Tony, one of out active volunteers. Here is his cine film of the line in January 1965.

That made me chuckle as I was born one month later and I am not exactly a teenager. Along the way you can see how much has changed with buildings and greenery now lining most of the route. We have our work cut out to get back to those days but we are making progress.
Until next time.
