(S)Pie'd in Oswestry

In the heat of the sun a nice shady place was required for the next culinary adventure of the Thursday Gang.  This week the hot topic was the best lunch menu. All available options were discussed but overall the mini pork pie took the top votes from the tasting team.  These are prime athletes in their chosen field and the debate was intense.  The location chosen this week was up in the signal box. Now mind you sweep up the crumbs!

Either side of the strenuous tea and tasting drills, work went on around the site with the tidying up operations.  The area vacated by the sleeper stack was chosen and the debris picked up and sorted, here Noel and Dave look at the place where 20 sleepers have just been removed to a new home.

Looking better now as we get ready for further work in this area to prepare the centre and down roads and complete the run round loop.
After successfully starting the Hiab truck it was moved to a new location where it can spring in to action as required.  Steve is reversing as Keith keeps a good look out.
With a touch of left hand down Steve backs the truck in to it's parking bay.
Arrived at destination and ready for the next turn.  Thanks to Andy G for the pictures and to the team that turned up for the tidy up.

Whilst we are talking about tidying up how about a new feature in your garden?  CHR has a number of old sleepers unsuitable for further railway use but ideal for the garden.  These are available for sale from Oswestry station.  Here are two happy customers taking away their sleepers.  Now it's over to you to plan your next garden project, decking, retaining walls, garden railways... all good uses for reclaimed sleepers.

As a footnote please note that there are currently no trains at the weekend at Oswestry as the dig is in progress. Trains will return shortly.  Llynclys operations continue as normal

Until next time.
