Snow Stops Play

The working weekend planned for last weekend has been moved to this weekend due to the rather large snowfall that came our way.  The work plan is the same so we will see how the weather turns out.

Although another excellent issue of Cambrian Lines has just been published with a full round up of news and progress from the various departments and a feature on Andrew Tullo, our sadly missed board member.  The magazine is on sale at both stations and free to members.

89A Rises Again
The shed may have moved to the other side of the line but there is still ongoing work on steam locomotives at 89A.  One day we hope to see former residents return for a visit and stretch their legs on our line.  Mostly running maintenance and general tidying up to keep our stock in working order.

Weston
Some material has arrived on site to support the planned development, once the ground thaws we will be able to continue with site preparation including space for the first platform alongside the goods shed.
Thanks to the CHR Facebook page for the picture.

It seems quiet at the moment but underneath we are paddling like mad on many fronts that will become more obvious early next year, keep watching...

Until next time

Busy Season

So first item is the caption competition.  Not too many replies

The best one came by mail:

"But Doc there's not enough space to get up to 88Mph" "Where we are going son we don't need rails...."
Thanks to Charles for that gem
(References to Back to the Future gained extra marks)
Thanks to everyone that looked in and to Tony for the photo (and the feet!)

It's a quiet time at the moment and with the colder weather it's time to look at a few other things

Speaking of which

Time to come along and see Father Christmas, this is an important fund raiser for us and every bit helps with progress.  Saturdays 9th, 16th and 23rd at Oswestry and Sundays 10th and 17th at Llynclys.  You even get a bilingual Santa, English and Welsh.  My Welsh never progressed beyond I don't know and being able to pronounce Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch.

It's all hands to the pump getting these organised, the first one ran on Saturday and was a success with Paddington greeting the children and being his usual self.

There will be some news about the extension so watch the railway magazines.  In the meantime much work is going on with planning and organisation for the next steps.

Until next time.
