Once the service has been identified and the level of protection confirmed the necessary work can be undertaken, this can be simply a case of rebuilding the outside sheath.
In other areas more drastic measures are called for, here is a side and top view of a service chamber under construction.
That's quite a deep hole that we have there, hence the need for the side supports and piling.
At either side of the bridge formwork has been built for a capping structure.
Some concrete pours have already taken place and the formwork already stripped, In the middle of this photo is the section still to be poured.
Here is the form work in place for the middle section, to be poured the following day.
Elsewhere there are still some jobs on the cattle creep to finish off, more bricks need laying to raise the ballast containment walls.
Where possible we have used the original material recovered from along the line, every so often we turn up a few heritage gems, such as these bricks with the manufacturers name still visible. These will be visible for years to come as a testament to the original construction of the line.
Henry and the crew have a long list of items still to complete the cattle creep so would love to have support or donations to take the project forward.
Thanks to Guy N for the pictures from a recent site inspection.
Until next time.
